Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great week so far.
For the past month I tried the No Sugar No Grain diet and it’s time for me to weigh in (lol weigh…get it?) on how it went.
I’ve decided to interview myself, because the only other person that could interview me right now is my roommate, but she’s asleep and I think I’d get punched in the head if I woke her up.
How did you hear about this diet?
My coworker lost 20 lbs and this was her secret. She said that it was the easiest diet she’s ever done, and when I heard ‘easy way to lose 20 lbs’ I was hooked.
Did you lose weight?
This diet started slow for me. It wasn’t a quick weight loss thing at all. I didn’t lose 10 pounds in the first day, but as my body got used to eating no carbs, it started working and I really saw results.
I did not weigh myself at the beginning because I’m afraid of the scale, so I don’t know overall pounds lost (sorry guys…I’ll have numbers for you next time), but I can fit into my skinny jeans.
Do you feel skinnier?
Last night I wore a bodysuit and high-waisted jeans to the bar so I’m feeling good. So good that I got home and housed McDonald’s. Oops. Cheat day.

Did you exercise while on the diet?
Nope. I think I would have achieved much better results if I was exercising. I don’t know about you guys, but when I lose weight and exercise my body retains its shape, but when I lose weight and don’t exercise, my weight redistributes in odd ways.
I’m no doctor, but I highly recommend exercising while losing weight.
How many times did you cheat?
I cheated for 2 meals a week. By the end it wasn’t really exciting to cheat anymore. I felt so physically bad after I ate sugar or carbs that I wasn’t interested.

How many hangry outbursts did you have?
For the first time…ever…I don’t think that I had any hangry moments. Usually when I go on really strict diets I become a monster for the first week, but this diet was easy from the start. Mostly because they let you eat a lot of fat on it to make up for the carbs and sugar that you’re not eating. Hellooooo avocado and cheese.
What was your overall feeling while on the diet?
Overall this diet rocks. As someone who loves bread maybe more than Oprah loves bread, I never thought that I’d be able to stick to it. But what this diet does so well is make my decisions easier. It automatically eliminates at least half of every menu, and makes me eat more vegetable-based meals.
How bad did you feel when you went off it?
This weekend I ate a half a cup of ice cream and felt awful. My head hurt, my body hurt and I felt so sick. I definitely feel puffier after going off the diet, and I’m contemplating just going back on it because I felt a lot better.

Could you do this forever?
Let’s be real: no way. I love carbs and if I could live on bread and cheese forever I’d be a happy camper. But I could cut back on carbs in my day-to-day life and plan on it.
What did you learn?
I eat a LOT of carbs.
Favorite meals while on this diet?
Tuna salad with pickles wrapped in collard greens. Seriously SO good.
So many salads (ignore that this is from a paleo website, but they’re really similar diets tbh)
Roasted sweet potato bowls with spinach, onion, spicy chicken sausage topped with a fried egg (no recipe, but it’s pretty easy!)
CHEESE – yeah, just cheese. Don’t judge me.
Do you recommend this diet?
Absolutely. Even if you just do it for a month like I did, it’s a great jumpstart to a long-term diet and really does reset your feelings about carbs and sugar. I look at them as a treat now, not something that I can eat for every meal.
