Happy Friday Guys!
I don’t know about you, but I feel a little like Ace Ventura when he’s climbing out of the rhino right now. Out the rhino and into the weekend, like I always say! (This is the first time I’ve ever said that).
But in all seriousness sometimes Monday through Friday tests your patience and your resolve. And it’s not just me. I feel like everyone I’ve talked to across the board had a pretty lackluster week. I’m going to blame it on some residual Mercury in retrograde bullshit because it’s easier than examining my life choices before I’ve even had one cup of coffee.
But ANYWAY.
I heard a really cool story a few weeks ago and I feel the need to share it. Bad news though, I’m one of those people who can’t remember the exact wording of quotes so I make up my own version…so the story might not be that accurate. But the payoff COULD change your life. How’s that for some bait to keep you reading?
Recently I sat at happy hour with my friend Lucy, which I don’t get to do very often because she lives thousands of miles away in New York City. This is a major complaint of mine, but that’s another story for another article.
Lucy and I talked about life, love and our goals for 2016. We started talking about how we’ll meet our goals, and then Lucy told me a story about her friend that really stuck with me.
I don’t remember all the details. What I do remember is Thailand, a rainstorm, a temple on top of a mountain and a monk leader (technical term) who told her she could ask him anything. And ask she did.
She asked him what is the one piece of advice he has for her. His answer was:
Focus on the big hand.
….
I’ll give you a moment to think about this.
….
If you’re still thinking, he’s talking about a clock. The big hand only moves after the little hand has inched along, barely noticeable, for 60 minutes. All those little ticks are what finally moves the big hand.
So the little efforts that we make every day are the important ones. If we work on the little hand stuff, the big hand will move on its own. When it comes to reaching my goals I always look at the big stuff and wonder why it’s not changing. But no more. I just need to do the work that inches the little hand along, then the larger results will come in time. (hehe. time. get it?)
So guys I hope you’re having a great Friday so far. I’m gonna go back to inching along to greatness.
❤ and blessings – LBW
